This fall, Utah State University will be bring back the Student Farmer's Market! Farmer’s markets epitomize sustainability by bringing community members together to purchase locally grown, healthier food, crafts and other products. The market features live local musicians in addition to local businesses and student organizations. One of the primary benefits to USU's 28,000+ students will be the 'double your dollars' program, allowing students to double their money in dollar increments up to $5, receiving two $1 tokens for each dollar exchanged. Tokens will be purchased at the entrance booth. The tokens may only be used in the market towards produce purchases. The USU Farmer's Market was initiated by the Blue Goes Green grant program.

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm    Malcolm Mobutu Smith: Communitas Lecture Series

Malcolm Mobutu Smith is associate professor of ceramic art at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He earned his MFA from the New York College of ceramics at Alfred University and he studied at both the Kansas City Art Institute and Penn State University receiving where he earned his BFA in ceramics. Smith’s professional activities include workshops, lecturers and residencies including visits to Haystack Mountain School of Craft, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Maine, The Robert McNamara Foundation also in Maine. His works are represented in numerous private and public collections including the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, FuLed International Ceramic Art Museum, Beijing, China and Indiana State Museum. Other areas of research and lecture interest for Smith include the study of graffiti art and comic books.

Celebration Day / College of Engineering

The opening social for the College of Engineering will be located in the grassy area between the engineering buildings and the Library. Come to celebrate the upcoming school year with free food and entertainment including a free rock wall, mechanical bull, activities, music, club information and more.
