Social Power, Privilege and Difference Online Class

Are you frustrated because your voice isn't being heard or you are not being taken seriously? Please join the Center for Persons with Disabilities at USU for this exciting 8-week online class being offered August 5 through September 29 on Social Power, Privilege and Difference. The purpose of this class is to help you become more aware of your individual power and how you can use that power to advocate for yourself as well as others. Fee is $25. Brown Bag lunch with Salt Lake Co.'s point person on illegal encampments of homeless persons

Join us for the SSWA Brown Bag Talk with guest speaker Jamie Pluta, Community Cleanup Coordinator for Salt Lake County Health Department. Lunch will be provided. 
Pluta has created a county-wide task force to abate illegal encampments of homeless persons throughout the county, while connecting campers to social services in the hopes that they will choose to get off the streets. Pluta's work seeks to protect public health and address the encampments in a safe and humane manner. Lunch will be provided.

EPIC Ventures is a venture capital firm that is located in Salt Lake and currently has a fund with more than $60M and has more than 45 current portfolio companies and more than 30 exits in companies like ancestry.com, Simplus, Health Catalyst, Canopy, and Homie.

Ryan Hemingway is a Utah State Alum and board member of the Entrepreneurial Founders Board. Ryan earned an MBA from the University of Oxford and has invested in several companies himself and been apart of their boards.

Come to learn more about venture capital, how they value, what it takes to get into it, and how you could potentially become a successful entrepreneur.
