Special Event

This is a leadership forum for all USU students. Lord Dr. Michael Hastings will teach principles of leadership he has learned throughout his life and participate in a Q&A session.

Bio: Lord Dr. Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE is a member of the House of Lords and Global Head of Citizenship for KPMG International. In 2003, Michael was awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to crime reduction which includes 15 years as Chair of Crime Concern and nine years serving on the Commission for Racial Equality. In 2014, Michael was conferred with a Doctorate in Civil Law from the University of Kent, Canterbury in recognition for his leadership at KPMG, the BBC and for his work in international development and corporate responsibility.

Ryan Hemingway from EPIC Ventures

EPIC Ventures is a venture capital firm that is located in Salt Lake and currently has a fund with more than $60M and has more than 45 current portfolio companies and more than 30 exits in companies like ancestry.com, Simplus, Health Catalyst, Canopy, and Homie.

Ryan Hemingway is a Utah State Alum and board member of the Entrepreneurial Founders Board. Ryan earned an MBA from the University of Oxford and has invested in several companies himself and been apart of their boards.

Come to learn more about venture capital, how they value, what it takes to get into it, and how you could potentially become a successful entrepreneur.
